"The time has come," the Walrus said, "To talk of many things:

That is my favorite line in a poem, that I have loved since I was in grade 6. I heard it in the movie (Harriet the Spy ) and went to the book-mobile to ask the librarian if she knew where I would be able to get that poem. She pointed me to Through the Looking-Glass by Lewis Carroll. I enjoyed that poem so much as a child and to this day when I read it I still have a smile on my face. When I am in a stressful situation or driving somewhere and managed to get lost I always start repeating the poem in my head. Keep reading my blog and you will understand why I have been repeating this a lot since Sunday. :)

Here's the poem if you have no idea what I'm talking about:

The sun was shining on the sea,
Shining with all his might:
He did his very best to make
The billows smooth and bright--
And this was odd, because it was
The middle of the night.
The moon was shining sulkily,
Because she thought the sun
Had got no business to be there
After the day was done--
"It's very rude of him," she said,
"To come and spoil the fun!"
The sea was wet as wet could be,
The sands were dry as dry.
You could not see a cloud, because
No cloud was in the sky:
No birds were flying overhead--
There were no birds to fly.
The Walrus and the Carpenter
Were walking close at hand;
They wept like anything to see
Such quantities of sand:
"If this were only cleared away,"
They said, "it would be grand!"
"If seven maids with seven mops
Swept it for half a year.
Do you suppose," the Walrus said,
"That they could get it clear?"
"I doubt it," said the Carpenter,
And shed a bitter tear.
"O Oysters, come and walk with us!"
The Walrus did beseech.
"A pleasant walk, a pleasant talk,
Along the briny beach:
We cannot do with more than four,
To give a hand to each."
The eldest Oyster looked at him,
But never a word he said:
The eldest Oyster winked his eye,
And shook his heavy head--
Meaning to say he did not choose
To leave the oyster-bed.
But four young Oysters hurried up,
All eager for the treat:
Their coats were brushed, their faces washed,
Their shoes were clean and neat--
And this was odd, because, you know,
They hadn't any feet.
Four other Oysters followed them,
And yet another four;
And thick and fast they came at last,
And more, and more, and more--
All hopping through the frothy waves,
And scrambling to the shore.
The Walrus and the Carpenter
Walked on a mile or so,
And then they rested on a rock
Conveniently low:
And all the little Oysters stood
And waited in a row.
"The time has come," the Walrus said,
"To talk of many things:
Of shoes--and ships--and sealing-wax--
Of cabbages--and kings--
And why the sea is boiling hot--
And whether pigs have wings."
"But wait a bit," the Oysters cried,
"Before we have our chat;
For some of us are out of breath,
And all of us are fat!"
"No hurry!" said the Carpenter.
They thanked him much for that.
"A loaf of bread," the Walrus said,
"Is what we chiefly need:
Pepper and vinegar besides
Are very good indeed--
Now if you're ready, Oysters dear,
We can begin to feed."
"But not on us!" the Oysters cried,
Turning a little blue.
"After such kindness, that would be
A dismal thing to do!"
"The night is fine," the Walrus said.
"Do you admire the view?
"It was so kind of you to come!
And you are very nice!"
The Carpenter said nothing but
"Cut us another slice:
I wish you were not quite so deaf--
I've had to ask you twice!"
"It seems a shame," the Walrus said,
"To play them such a trick,
After we've brought them out so far,
And made them trot so quick!"
The Carpenter said nothing but
"The butter's spread too thick!"
"I weep for you," the Walrus said:
"I deeply sympathize."
With sobs and tears he sorted out
Those of the largest size,
Holding his pocket-handkerchief
Before his streaming eyes.
"O Oysters," said the Carpenter,
"You've had a pleasant run!
Shall we be trotting home again?'
But answer came there none--
And this was scarcely odd, because
They'd eaten every one.

I have been watching my nephew since last Sunday and he is super fun and adorable. However, he is 18 months old and is in every way, shape and form a test to the human psyche. He is super fun to play with and at his age it is amazing the words and sounds he can understand and try to repeat. He hasn't grasped fowl language yet so I can still get away with dropping the f bomb and saying shit. I don't think this will go on much longer as he is starting to say "sit!" every time I say shit.

Tomorrow Jackson (my nephew) and I are going to carve our pumpkin for Halloween.
This tradition is probably one of my favorites and I'm excited to share it with Jackson.

Well the time has come the walrus said...to bath Jackson and put him to bed, for if I don't he will start to cry and it does damage on my head.

Until next time

You'll Have To Excuse Me...I was Taking a Break.

Hello World Wide Web Friends.

I have taken a sufficient amount of time away from my computer/internet and have some new things to blog about.

Today I would just like to talk about how I have settled in to my townhouse with my boyfriend Tyson and my dog Sophie and we are loving in in Story's Beach. The weather is rainy, sunny, rainy with a bit of sun and pouring rain with sun. Basically to describe Port Hardy's weather I rely on the Twilight Saga as most of it was filmed all around vancouver island.

I have taken about a month or so off from my blog this was due to a bunch of factors, moving, being lazy/not wanting to think of stuff to write and the main objective..Port Hardy's Local Internet provider which cannot be named. Lets just say there are two main players and it is not TELUS.

Now Port Hardy is some what of a remote area so there is really only one main internet provider and they go by code name... Rob You Blind Ltd. They provide internet, cable and digital cable to all the locals who wanna pay the prime dime for their services.

Now this seemed like a good idea for us to get internet because I am living on the other side of the country and want a way to keep in touch without having to use my iphone all the time.

We get the internet hooked up pay the bill and as the installation tech informs me of the service link that I can go on to from time to time to keep track of how much downloaded GB (gigabytes) I use in a month. I give him a strange look and reply "why the heck would I care about that?"  Too my horror he explains that Rob You Blind Ltd has to pay for their internet and feeds me crap and explains that as internet users we are only allowed 15 GB a month of downloads and that for every GB we go over we pay $9.99.

So Tyson and I really pick and choose what we watch online and what we rent or buy of the itunes store. Picture it this way, a 30 min tv show that you live stream online takes up 500KB .
( 1024KB=1MB and 1024 MB=1GB) It all adds up very quickly when you are only given 15 GB

So Rob You Blind Ltd has full monopoly over Port Hardy and we just have to continue to monitor our usage because the other competitor only offers a usb plug in gadget that connects you to a satellite internet connection but when you go that route you are still paying a monthly fee and have to sigh up similar to something you would do for a cell phone. Minium of a 3 year contract.

Needless to say it doesn't take much KB to write a little blog post here and there so I will pull up my socks and give you all some words of delight as often as I can.

My very good friend Una Lounder has a blog that she has been blogging on for almost a year and the link is http://thelittleredpaperclip.blogspot.com/ She asked me to guest blog from time to time. I am the guest blogger this week for Thrifty Thursday if you wanna venture over to her site and take a read.

I have been doing my Epicure Consulting for about 3 months now am love it. I love anything that is made local..Sidney, BC and kept in CANADA!!!

I am throwing my first Epicure Party tonight for two of my friends ! I will blog about that tomorrow and let you all know how it goes.

Sophie has adjusted well to the move, she has her doggie beds located in her two prime laying areas. One is downstairs directly across from where I stand in the kitchen to prep dinners and make snacks. And the second is right next to my side of the bed so she can keep an eye on me when Im sleeping. She also loves the woods and trails around here and love going for adventure walks.

Well until next time bloggers,

Kris

The Biggest Rocks I've Ever Seen...

We escaped Calgary early this morning with TD packed to the rim full of my IKEA loot from our visit yesterday. I love that store so much and tax was only 5% so it was a win/win situation.

To any readers who have not been to the western part of Canada and have no experienced the Rockies, let me break it down.

AMAZING...we left Calgary and it was flat with little hills in the distance then BAM right or of no where there are these giant monster rocks. I was staring out he window with minded blown.

We drove for a while then took a pit stop in Revelstoke which is beautiful, but very isolated. After we got a snack and let Sophie out to do her job we packed up and headed west to Kamploops. Now I have heard people talk about Kamloops and describe it as a dessert in he middle of BC. Well, it is dry and sandy and full of tumble weeds and it also looks like a giant graveyard were trees come to die. Waste land. It was so depressing driving through. I wanted to just pull a hose put of my magic bag and start watering random things it just was surreal.

After a while of dry an sad landscape we were back in beautiful tree and green. We hit Vacouver before rush hour and made our way to Tswassen to get in line for the Ferry. And let me tell you this ferry I am talking about could eat Dartmouth/Halifax ferries for breakfast and then eat a million more this puppy is massive.

We drove in parked the car and took Sophie to look around it's her first time on a ferry. She was a little nervous at first but she met 2 Pomeranians and she was fine.

We have a quick little drive to Chemanius to have a visit with Tyson's sister Marika and her cute family.

We are going to hang out and relax for a couple days then head up North to Port Hardy.

We made it safe and sound from east coast to the strange coast...I wonder what's in store for me!!!

Keep on reading if your enthralled

Swifty Casinos and Underaged Meals that are not so Current

Swift Current... what an experience.

I guess all the hotels in the area have a scam going on with the local first nations casino "Living Sky Casino" needless to say Tyson and I decided to venture across he highway to he casino for our 5 dollars off dinner coupon and our 20 dollars complimentary to gamble with.

Side note- I am not a gambler. I have been to a casino 3 times in my life, once in Montreal, once in Halifax and last night in swifty Swift Current. So the appeal of gambling is lost on me, how is it fun to go into a building and lose money based on probability that is so complex that it can become severly habit forming.

None the less we ventured over and decided to go eat at the "Horizon" restaurant located in the casino. Within the first 5 minutes sitting in our booth we realized we were Underaged for the casino. And by Underaged we mean the youngest couple excluding Tyson and I were probably in their mid 60s.

We got a good kick out of it. We ordered our food ate because we had been starving since we had reached Regina. After we cashed in our coupons it was time to venture in to the casino and have some fun with a couple one armed bandits.

I lost my 20 dollars faster that you can say "Fist Nation Living Sky Casino."

Tyson....well he just kept winning and winning. He ended up winning 46 bucks.

I technically won some money, 0.34 cents the casino even rounded up to 35 cents when I cashed out. It was awesome.

We headed back to the comfort inn courtesy of the casinos shuttle and watched tv and had a mellow night. We got up early departed Swift Current, Sask and headed to Calgary Alberta.

But alas that is a story for tomorrow.

Till then,

Kris

Bor-atoba and The City that rhymes with "FUN" ( Regina )

We have been staying at comfort inns along the way because they don't charge you for havin a dog in your room, free breakfast and they have a really good government rate. The only down side ...they're sly tactics to get you to spend money.

Sure I guess I should have read the note attached to the bottle of water on the table by the tv. Alas, I did not read I just opened the bottle and began to drink. All of a sudden I hear Tyson, he tells me " Kristina what are you doing?" I give him a sarcastic gesture like duh Tyson I'm drinking water of of a bottle how obvious do I need to be. He then elaborates thatthe bottle I was to quick to open and start drinking from was not complimentary, it was in fact $2.99. So lame

So when we got into the room last night I made sure I was aware of the "not free water" and I did not purchase any more.

We left "the Peg" and headed west. Manitoba might be a bigger but whole then thunder bay but atleast it is not a big provience. We took a pit stop in this town outside of Brandon MA.I had been given a gift card at Subway so I took Tyson of for lunch lol.

I'm not sure if all you readers have met Sophie but she is as far from a ferocious canine as you can get. She can barely walk in a straight line with out tripping on her ears. Needless to say we were siting at a picnic table eating and Sophie was on her leash exploring and we just hear shrieks if what Tyson and I assume are out of excitement. WRONG. There was a women standing at the front of her truck terrified of Sophie. Her body language and be pitch of her yelps confused Sophie and she took them as welcoming.

So here is a mental picture a middle aged woman standing at he front of her car frozen with the fear of this dog standing inches away. And then there w as Sophie covered in water and sand from her explorations onto the dirty parking lot, waggig her tail and talking to this women in her bassit hound howl.

Please be aware I would never let Sophie purposely scare someone by his woman did not say a word to anyone just shreiks. And I do not speak Shriekish.

Tyson eneded up getting Sophie and bringing her to another spot were she could explore away from this woman. It was so funny.

Our final destination for today is Swift Current,SK.

I'm well aware of the comfort inns water scam so I will be on my guard tonight for any other not free products.

That's all for now

Caution Running Moose and Kakabeka Falls

I have to admit Northern Ontario....wait Ontario is one of the more tedious and boring places to drive through. Not to mention their 90km/hr speed limit and the millions of billboards the O.P.P have up telling you the fines for speeding. So annoying.

Tyson and I have an agreement I make the lunches and pack the coolers he does all the driving with the exception of 2 to 3 hours in which I take the reins in TD and he sleeps. I say those couple of hours are where we make up time as I am some what of a speed demon. Hahaha

We drove from Thunder Bay ( should be renamed to butt whole of Ontario bay) to Winnipeg. Now if you know me at all there is no need for me to express how I feel about Winnipeg or Manitoba in general. However, if you stumble upon this blog and have no idea who I am or my opinions I have.....I loathe Winnipeg.

Tyson, Sophie and I are going to go for a walk and stretch out for a bit then Tyson and I are going on a romantic date at the olive garden.... Unlimited soup ans salad hollah!!

We are not sure what the final destination is tomorrow it might be medicine hat Alberta or somewhere less far.

That's all for now

The Nickel Capital Of The WORLD!!!

After an amazing visit with Tyson's grandmother we packed up TD and headed to Sudbary to stay the night with family friends the Skrobots'.

They have an amazing family consisting of the father Chris, the mother Steph, the kiddies Sidney (4) and Noah (2) and we cannot forget Cooper the black lab.

We had a long day driving as we hit traffic and construction in pretty much every main city we drove through. We finally arrived in Sudbary around 930 pm and Steph and Chris made us a delicious pizza. Now this might not seem as epic as it was but the whole drive I was craving a crispy thin crust pizza so you can only imagine my excitement to eat.

We chatted and shared stories of the boring roads of northern Ontario and finally sophie told me she wanted to go to bed so we headed to bed for the night.

I woke up and heard Noah and Sidney and ran downstairs to say hi they kinda remembered me from a couple weeks back in NS when they came to visit. But they warmed up to me and we all ate our breakfast together it was fun. They have to be the most advanced 2 and 4 year old I know. They speak in complete sentences, use manners and can communicate very well for their age.

I'm 24 and I can barely spell and I barely ever use complete sentences. Not to mention I could brush up on some manners lol. But they are cute to boot Steph and Chris lucked out with those two.

We said good bye and thank you and we are now headed to Thunder Bay for the Night.

That's All for now
